Our place is over at Plot No. 44/1 in Block 10 of Kandhampatty. We are right behind Sisu Hospital, which is an easy way to find us if you’re lost. We deal with fruits mostly, which means our schedule is really dictated by the seasons. When the mangoes or oranges are in, things get very frantic around here. We have to move fast because fruit doesn't wait for anyone. Our warehouse is usually cool, but the loading area gets pretty hot during the middle of the day. We spend a lot of time sorting through crates and making sure the bruised stuff is pulled out. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting boxes and stacking pallets. We aren't a big flashy company with a glass front. It’s mostly concrete and corrugated metal here. The staff usually has lunch together on the crates when we finally have a break. We’ve had some tough years when the crops weren't good, but we just kept going anyway. We don’t really use fancy words to describe what we do. We just buy fruit, sort it, and get it to where it needs to go. Sometimes the floor is sticky from juice, and we’re constantly cleaning up. It’s a messy, busy, and honest way to make a living. We’re just local people doing our best with what the earth gives us each year. That’s about all there is to say.
