You can find us over at the Block Development Office area on Salem Main Road in Mummudi Village. This is where the Thalaivasal Women Farmer Producer Company Limited operates from. It is mostly a group of local women who decided to handle our own farming business together. Being right by the commissioner's office means we see a lot of people coming and going. It’s a busy stretch of road. We spend our mornings talking about what needs planting and how the crops are doing in the different plots around the village. It’s not a corporate setup at all. Usually, there are a few of us sitting around a table trying to figure out the best way to sell what we’ve grown. We have to deal with the same problems every farmer has, like the water or the price of supplies. Sometimes we agree on things and sometimes we don't, but we always get the work done. It’s a lot of responsibility but we are used to hard work. Our office is just a plain room where we keep our records and meet up. We don't have a lot of help, so we do everything ourselves from the heavy lifting to the filing. It keeps us busy. If you are passing through Mummudi, you’ll see us there. It’s just us trying to make the most of what we have. It isn't perfect, but it is ours and we are proud of that.
