Sirumalar Fed Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our office is located right on the Salem Main Road in a busy area. It’s at 16A, near the Rengamariyamman Kovil, so there is always some activity nearby, especially during festival times. We are a federation of farmers who decided to pool our resources together. Most of us come from small plots of land and found it difficult to compete in the larger market. By forming Sirumalar Fed, we can collect what we grow and sell it in larger batches. The office is usually full of farmers dropping off their paperwork or just stopping by for a chat while they are in town. We don’t have any fancy air conditioning or sleek furniture. It’s just a practical space with some desks and chairs where we get the books in order. The traffic on the main road can be a bit much sometimes, but being there makes it easy for the trucks to come and go. We focus on the things that matter to us, like the price of seeds and the timing of the rains. It’s a community effort more than a business. We all have a stake in it, so we all work hard to keep it going. It’s not always smooth sailing, but we’ve managed to stay together through several seasons now. We just take it one day at a time and try to help each farmer get a bit more for their hard work.
