Down here at 882 Kanappatti, we have been running the Semmampatti Pudur Fruit And Vegetable Farmers Producer Company Limited. It is a long name for a group of us who are just trying to get our produce sorted. Musudapatti is where most of us live and work. We deal with fruits and vegetables mostly. Some days the tomatoes are great and other days we worry about the rain. It is the life of a farmer. We set this company up to help each other out with the logistics. Getting stuff from the field to where it needs to go is a lot of work. We aren't big city people. Most of us have dirt under our fingernails most of the week. The office in Kanappatti is where we meet up to discuss the harvest. It’s a simple room with some chairs and a lot of talking. We don’t have fancy computers or a big staff. Just local folks doing what they know. Sometimes we argue about the prices or the transport, but at the end of the day, we are all in this together. If you walk by, you might see some crates stacked up or someone loading a truck. It’s nothing glamorous. It’s just how we make a living in this part of the world. We hope the seasons treat us well this year. It's a hard life but we enjoy being outside.
