Mecheri Sree Badrakaliamman Collective Farm Producer Company Limited is named after our local temple because that is the heart of our town. We are located at No.21 on the Mallikuntham Main Road in Mecheri. It is a part of Mettur in the Salem district. Most people around here know the road well. Our office is just a plain spot where we gather to talk about the farming collective. It is a 636453 area, and it can get very hot during the summer months in Salem. We have some plastic chairs for visitors and a few old cupboards for the files. The collective is made up of people from the surrounding farms who wanted to work together. We spend a lot of time on the phone or out in the fields, so the office is sometimes empty during the middle of the day. When we are here, we are usually drinking coffee and trying to stay out of the sun. The Mallikuntham road gets busy during the local festivals, but otherwise, it is a quiet enough place to work. We do not have a website or anything like that. We just rely on the fact that everyone in Mecheri knows where No.21 is. It is a humble way to run things, but it is the way we have always done it. We just focus on the daily chores and the farms that belong to our members. It keeps us quite occupied from morning until late.
