Mecheri Farmers Producer Company Limited

If you are heading down Nangavalli Main Road, you will see the Amarathnur Bus Stop. We are right there at No. 5/38A3 in M. Kalipatti. It is a busy spot because of the buses. We are a farmers producer company, so we are basically a group of people from around Mecheri trying to get things organized. Our office is a place where farmers can come and talk. It is not polished or shiny. There are sacks of stuff in the corner sometimes, and the desks are covered in folders. We spend a lot of time discussing prices and how to transport what we grow. It is a lot of coordination. Salem can be quite dry, so water is always a big topic of conversation here. We do not have a marketing team or anyone to write fancy speeches. We just speak plain English and get to the point. Most of us have dirt under our fingernails anyway. It is a local effort. We try to help each other out with seeds or advice. Some days the office is empty because everyone is out in the fields. Other days, it is so full you can barely stand. It is just the nature of this kind of work. We are not looking for awards, just looking to make sure the work we do pays off for the families involved. The fan in the ceiling squeaks, but we have gotten used to it over the months.
