We are Chithambareswarar Collective Farm Farmers Producer Company Limited, located at No.13 on Salem Road in Panamarathupatti. This post office area is where we all gather to figure out the business. We are a group of farmers who live nearby and we wanted to have a place where we could combine what we grow. It’s a lot better than trying to do everything alone. The office on Salem Road is pretty basic, with just some benches and a big table where we spread out our notes. There’s a lot of traffic on the road, mostly people heading toward Salem, so it can be a bit dusty. We spend our mornings checking the prices and talking to the people who buy our vegetables. It’s hard to get everyone together sometimes because there is always work to be done in the fields. We don’t have any polished brochures or a sales team. We just use our phones to stay in touch with each other. Panamarathupatti is a good place to be because everyone knows everyone else. If there is a problem with the water or the soil, we talk about it here. We don't have big dreams of becoming a massive corporation. We just want to keep the farms running and make sure our families are okay. It’s practical work and it keeps us very busy most of the year, regardless of the weather.
