Ramrekha Mahila Krishak Producer Company

We are a group of women farmers based out of Tanagar, right near the Bandh Tower area at Baleshwar Singh’s place. Ramrekha Mahila Krishak is what we call ourselves, but really we are just neighbors who decided to work together. It’s tough being a farmer around here and even tougher when you’re trying to do it all by yourself. We share tools and advice on what grows best in this soil. Some of us grow vegetables and others focus on grains. We meet up when we can to talk about the prices we’re getting and how to save a bit on fertilizer. Our office is just a simple room where we keep our notes and some bags of seeds. It gets dusty and the fan makes a weird clicking noise but we don't mind. We all have families to look after too so our days are very busy. Sometimes we bring our kids along when we have to discuss things. It’s a lot of juggling but it’s better than working alone. We don't have any fancy certificates or big goals, we just want to make sure our families are fed and we have a bit of money left over. The weather is unpredictable so we just pray for rain when we need it. This company is just our way of staying connected and helping each other stay afloat.
