Passing Out From College In May 2008

So, we are based out of Hostel 9 at BIT Mesra. Specifically, room G 041. It’s exactly what it sounds like—a group of us who were finishing up our time at the college back in May 2008. The room is pretty cramped, typical for a hostel, with books and stuff piled up everywhere. We spent a lot of late nights here, probably more than we should have. BIT Mesra is a big campus, but Hostel 9 was our little corner of it. It’s got that specific smell of old paper and laundry that you only find in dorms. We aren't a business in the traditional sense, just people marking a point in time. Life was a bit different back then, before everyone had a smartphone in their pocket. We’d sit around in G 041 talking about what we were going to do after graduation. The walls are a bit thin, so you can always hear what’s going on in the hallway. It’s not a polished environment, just a real one. We’ve got some old furniture and a few posters on the walls. Most of the time we were just trying to get through the final exams and figure out where the next step was. May 2008 felt like a big deal at the time. It’s just a snapshot of life in Ranchi at the college. It feels like a lifetime ago when we all stood there ready to leave.
