Malhan Agribusiness Producer Company Limited is set up at Kartik Mahto’s place. He is the son of Trilochan Mahto. We are out in Bhuiandih, near Baburamdih in the Tamar area. This part of the country is very quiet and mostly filled with farms. We started this because it was getting harder for people in Tamar to manage everything on their own. Our office is just a part of the house where we keep the books and meet with the other farmers. We don't have any fancy computers or air conditioning. It is just us, some chairs, and a lot of notebooks. Most of the work happens outside or in the small shed we use for storage. We talk a lot about the rain and the quality of the seeds we are using. There is always someone coming by to ask a question or to share some news about the market. We don't have any big signs or advertisements. Everyone in Baburamdih knows where Kartik lives, so they just come over when they need something. It is a very practical way of doing business. We deal with the crops that grow well in this soil and try to get them sold. Sometimes the transport trucks are late and we have to wait around for hours. It is just part of the life here. We don't try to sound bigger than we are. We are just a local group working in the village.
