Over in Maheshpur, we have the Maheshpur Farmers Producer Company Limited. Anju Devi and her husband Ashok Kumar Verma are the ones who help keep things organized at their place. It’s a local thing for the farmers around this part of Pakur. We aren’t trying to be some massive enterprise. We just want to handle our crops and sales in a way that makes sense for us. The village life is what we know. We spend our days out in the fields and our evenings talking about how to improve the next harvest. It’s practical work. We don’t have fancy slogans. If you come by, you’ll probably find us sorting through bags of grain or talking about the price of diesel for the pumps. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. Sometimes the paperwork gets a bit much, but we help each other out with it. We’ve all known each other for years, so there’s a lot of trust. We share what we have and try to make sure no one gets left behind when the season is tough. Amarapara is where we belong, and this company is just our way of sticking together. It’s not perfect, and we make mistakes, but we are learning as we go. Just a bunch of local folks trying to do right by their land and families. That is our reality.
