Krishakrahe Prakhand Khetihar Producer Company Limited

In the Rahe area, we decided to get organized as Krishakrahe Prakhand Khetihar. Our little office is located at Raj Kishore Mahto’s place in Chandandih. He’s the son of Kaleshwar Mahto. Most of us come from around Sonahatu and Bundu. We’re all farmers by trade. We spend the bulk of our time in the fields, so the office doesn't see us all that much. We started this because we needed a way to buy supplies in bigger lots and save some money. Farming in this part of the country is tough work. The soil needs a lot of care and the weather doesn't always cooperate. We don’t have any professional managers or anything. It’s just us farmers trying to figure things out as we go. We talk about things like which crops are selling well and how we can get our harvest to the bigger markets without it costing too much. It’s a very hands-on business. You won't find any polished marketing here. We just say things as they are. Sometimes we have disagreements about when to plant, but we always work it out because we’re all neighbors. We’ve known each other’s families for generations. This company is just a way for us to stick together and make sure the farming life stays sustainable for everyone in the village. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s ours. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every single season.
