Jhar Mahila Resham Producer Company Limited is located at House Number 92 in Sankosai, Chaibasa. We are part of the West Singhbhum district here in Jharkhand, with the pincode 833201. Our setup is looked after by Jagdish Bodra. We mainly work with silk, or resham as we call it locally, because that is what many of the women here are skilled in. Chaibasa has a long history with this kind of work, and we wanted to keep that going. It’s a group for women to come together and handle the production and sale of what they make. Our office is just a regular house in the neighborhood, so it’s easy for people to find us. We don't have any fancy marketing people or big budgets. We just talk to the local weavers and rearers about their needs. Sometimes the supply of cocoons is low, or the weather doesn't cooperate, but we just deal with it as it comes. It's a very hands-on kind of business where you get your hands dirty. We spend a lot of time making sure the quality is okay and that everyone gets their share of the work. It’s a quiet kind of life in Pashchim Singhbhum, and we like it that way. We aren't doing anything revolutionary; we are just trying to keep the local silk traditions alive and useful for the families here. It’s about the community and the work we do.
