Itki Agrismart Producer Company Limited

Our little company is located in Itki, specifically in the Garhagaon area. Lakhan Sahu, whose father is R.K. Sahu, is the one who helps us stay organized with all the paperwork that comes with being a producer company. We are just regular farmers who have lived in this village for generations. Even though our name has "smart" in it, our way of working is very traditional and down-to-earth. We spend our days out in the sun, doing the same kind of work our grandfathers did. We decided to get together because it makes it easier to handle the business side of things, which none of us really like doing. Garhagaon is a quiet place where people still look out for one another. We meet up when we can to discuss which seeds are working best or how to deal with the latest insects in the crops. We don't have a big marketing department or any corporate offices. Our office is the field and our meeting room is usually someone's front porch. We talk about the simple things, like when the rain might finally show up or the best time to take things to the market. It is a lot of physical work and sometimes it feels like a losing battle against the elements, but we keep at it. We are just local folks trying to keep our farming tradition alive and make a decent living for our families.
