We spend most of our days out here at the Ranchi airport in Hinoo. It’s a busy spot, especially when the morning flights start coming in. Being part of the Aviation Security Group for the Government of India means we have to stay sharp, but it’s mostly about the routine of the place. The office is over with the Chief Airport Security Officer and the DC CISF. You get used to the sound of engines and the way the Jharkhand humidity hits you as soon as you step outside. It’s not a glamorous job, just a lot of standing and making sure everything follows the rules. The airport has changed a bit over the years, but the Hinoo area still feels the same. We see all kinds of people passing through, some in a hurry and others just tired from traveling. Sometimes the paperwork piles up on the desks in the security wing, and we just have to grind through it. We aren’t big on fancy speeches or anything like that. We just show up at 834002 and get to work. Most of us have lived around Ranchi for a while, so we know the shortcuts and where to get a decent cup of tea when the shift ends. It is just a regular group of people doing a necessary job at the terminal. We keep things moving, watch the gates, and handle the daily grind without making much noise about it.
