Dugani Fed Producer Company Limited is run by a few of us who have been around Kunda and Pratappur for a long time. Our main contact point is with Umesh Kumar in Kunda, Chatra. We are a producer company, which sounds like a big title, but really it’s just us farmers trying to pool our resources. In this part of Jharkhand, you have to be tough because the work is hard and the rewards aren't always guaranteed. We spend a lot of time talking about the logistics of getting things from the farm to the market. It’s a long road sometimes. We don't have a fancy office building or a team of secretaries. It is mostly just paperwork handled in a small room and a lot of conversations held out in the open or at the post office area. We don't try to sound like a big city business because we aren't. We are just trying to get a fair shake for the folks growing food in Chatra. Some days we spend more time talking about the weather than the business, but that’s just how it is here.
