Bharat Earth Movers Ltd.Dhanbad

This is the spot for Bharat Earth Movers here in Dhanbad, but I actually stay over at the CMPDI Colony on Kanke Road in Ranchi. My father is Shrikant Tiwari and we have lived in this quarter, B/154, for quite some time. Working with heavy machinery like what BEML makes is a big job. These are massive machines used for mining and moving earth, which is a huge deal in a place like Jharkhand where there is so much coal. Most of my days are spent dealing with the technical side of things or talking to the guys at the sites. The CMPDI colony is a nice, quiet place to come back to after a long day of dealing with gears and engines. It has those old-style government houses with small gardens in the front. People think industrial work is all about noise, but a lot of it is just sitting at a desk and making sure the parts are ordered correctly. I keep a lot of my work notes here at the house. It’s not a fancy setup, just a regular home where we happen to handle important business for the company. We don’t really go in for those big slogans or mission statements. We just try to make sure the equipment stays running so the mining work doesn’t stop. It's practical work for people who don't mind getting their hands a bit dirty now and then.
