Bharat Bricks Work

We've been running Bharat Bricks Work for a while now over in Village Lalpur. It's right in the Industrial Area, not too far from the Shiv Mandir. If you're coming down that way, you can usually see the smoke or the trucks moving around. We deal with bricks mostly, obviously, and it gets pretty busy during the construction season. The sun hits the yard hard in the summer, but we keep the work going. People from around the village know where we are. It’s a straightforward setup. We don't have a big office or anything fancy, just the kiln and the stacks of bricks ready to go. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere, but that's just how it is with this kind of work. We’ve seen the area change a bit over the years, but the Shiv Mandir stays the same, which helps people find us if they're lost. My cousin helps out with the loading sometimes. It's hard work, manual mostly. You learn a lot about how clay behaves when you're doing this every day. We try to keep things moving so the piles don't sit too long. It's just us here, making sure the orders get sorted. It isn't a glamorous job, but bricks are always needed for something or other. Most days start early before the heat gets too bad. We usually close up when the light fades. Just a local spot in Lalpur doing what we do. The tea stall nearby makes very good chai, and we usually get a few cups brought over during the day.
