Our group is called Bbkrs Mahila Krishi Utpadak Producer Company Limited. We are a bunch of women farmers from around Tilir Jihu. If you are looking for where we meet or keep our things, it’s at Lok Nath Mahto’s place. Most of us have been farming these lands for as long as we can remember. We started this company because it’s a lot tougher to get things done when you’re working by yourself. Here in Tilir Jihu, we all know the struggle of a bad harvest or the difficulty of finding good supplies at the right time. By coming together, we can share the load a bit. We are just regular people, usually with dirt under our fingernails and a lot on our minds. There isn't anything corporate about us. We talk in plain English and focus on the crops. Sometimes we gather to talk about what to plant next or how to get our vegetables to the market. It’s a lot of practical, hands-on work. We don't have a big office building, just the space we use at Lok Nath Mahto’s. It works for us. Living out here means you have to be tough and work together. That is really all there is to it. We are just trying to make a living and keep our farms going for the next year. It’s a simple arrangement between neighbors who understand the land and the hard work it takes to make it produce something useful.
