Raithabalaga Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is based out in Kodamballi, which is part of the Channapatna area. It’s a quiet spot in Bangalore Rural, far enough from the city noise that you can actually hear yourself think. We call ourselves Raithabalaga because we really are just a bunch of friends and neighbors who farm the land around here. We don't have a big office building; we mostly meet up in a small space we’ve got in the village. It’s got a tin roof and a few wooden benches. We spend our time figuring out how to get our vegetables and grains to the market without losing too much to the middlemen. It’s a tough business and some years are better than others. We share tools and advice on what grows best in the local soil. The paperwork for the company is a bit of a chore, but we take turns dealing with it. Most of the day, you won’t find us in the office anyway. We’re usually out in the fields or over at the warehouse checking the stock. People in Kodamballi know where to find us if they have questions. We don't use any big words or complicated plans. We just want to make sure our families can keep farming for another generation. It’s simple, honest work and we try to do it the right way. Channapatna is famous for toys, but for us, it’s all about the soil and the rain. We just do our best with what we have.
