Out here in Herandyappanahalli Village, things move a bit slower than they do in the middle of Bangalore. Even though we are officially in the Bangalore Rural area, near Kanakapura, life is still all about the crops and the rain. Kanagapura Krishi is what we call ourselves. We are based in the Kodihalli Hobli area. Most of us have been farming these specific lands since we were kids. This company is just a way for us to get together and stop being pushed around by the big city markets. It’s a simple setup we’ve got. It’s a very green area with lots of trees and quiet roads, except when the harvest trucks are moving. We don't have any fancy brochures or salesmen. If you want to know about us, you just come and sit down and talk for a while. We deal with the soil every single day. Some years the ragi is great, other years we struggle with the pests. That’s just the life we chose. We’re not looking to get rich quick, just looking to keep our village thriving. Having the office here in the village means any farmer can just walk in whenever they have a problem. It’s practical and it works.
