Vijay Steel Works

We have been at Bhaktinagar GIDC for a long time now. My father started Vijay Steel Works and I just kept it going. It is noisy here most days with the machines running and the guys moving heavy sheets around. Rajkot is a busy place for industrial work, so we stay on our feet. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. Just the workshop floor and our tools. Sometimes the grease gets everywhere, but that is part of the job. If someone needs something made out of steel or a part fixed, they usually just walk in. We spend most of the day cutting, welding, and grinding. The heat in Gujarat gets pretty bad in the summer, making the shed feel like an oven, but we manage. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to get the work done right so the customer can go back to their own business. Dealing with metal is hard work and it takes its toll on the hands. I usually have a cup of tea in the afternoon while looking over the orders. It is a simple life here in the GIDC area. We know the neighbors and they know us. Most of the time, the machines do the talking. We just make sure everything is lined up and the welds are strong enough to hold. It’s a lot of sweat and hard labor, but we like it.
