We are over in Rajkot, specifically in the Umakant Pandit Udhyogngar area on Gulab Vadi Street No- 6. Our workshop is right there in the Mavdi Plot section, where the sound of metal hitting metal is pretty much the soundtrack to our day. It’s a gritty part of town, full of workshops and small factories just like ours. We spend our time working with various metals, cutting and shaping things as needed. The floors are usually covered in some kind of metal shavings, and we’re always wearing our heavy boots to stay safe. It gets really hot in the summer, especially when the machines have been running for hours on end. We take our tea breaks out on the street or just sitting on whatever crates are handy. Gulab Vadi Street is narrow and can get blocked by delivery trucks easily, so we’re always watching the road. It’s a family-style environment here, even if we aren’t all related. We’ve known the guys in the neighboring plots for years. We don’t have a fancy showroom; if you want to see what we do, you just walk into the workshop and see the machines in action. The work is loud and messy, but we’re used to it and it’s how we’ve always done things here in Rajkot. We just focus on the orders we have and try to get them finished before the day ends every evening.
