About Swastik Refactories – Metals & Minerals in Rajkot
We are set up right along the 8-A National Highway in the Hasanpar area. It’s a busy spot because of the highway, and you can hear the big trucks rumbled by at all hours. Dhuva is just down the way, so we are in a good place for getting materials delivered. Making refractories is a bit more complicated than just making regular bricks. It takes a lot of heat and the mix has to be just right every single time. We have been at this location for several years now. The building we work in is getting a little bit old and the roof leaks a tiny bit when it pours, but it does what we need it to do. We deal with a lot of raw materials that come in straight from the highway. It gets incredibly hot inside the workshop during the summer months, so we try to do the hardest work early in the morning. Most of our crew lives nearby in the local village, so we all know each other’s families. We usually sit under the big neem tree outside to eat our lunch and have some tea. It is definitely not a polished or fancy setup. We just have our machines and enough space to store the finished goods before they get shipped out. Sometimes people miss our gate because they are driving too fast on the highway. We just keep the doors open and keep working. It is a grit-and-grind kind of existence.
