If you look for us near the CNG pump on Harbad Road, you will find our steel yard right at Mahendra Nagar Chokdi. It is a busy spot and there is always dust and the sound of metal moving around. We have been working with steel for a while now. It is heavy work and your hands get dirty within five minutes of starting the shift. Most of the time we are just cutting or moving sheets and rods for different projects around town. The area gets crowded with trucks and people stopping for gas nearby. We usually have the radio playing in the back while we work. It helps with the long hours. The sun hits the metal in the afternoon and makes everything bright and hot. We take our breaks under the small shed we built last year. It is not a corporate office and we don't wear suits here. Just regular clothes that can handle the grease and the scrap. People stop by to ask for specific sizes or just to see what we have in stock. We try to keep things organized but a steel yard always looks a bit messy. It is just the way it is. We have been here since the roads were much quieter than they are now. We know the neighbors and the guys at the pump well. It is a steady life and we just keep at it day after day until it is time to go home.
