Ravi Metal is located over at Plot No.10 in Dharmmegh Estate, right above Design Zone. Being on the 8-A National Highway near Rafaleshwar means there is always a layer of dust on everything, no matter how much we sweep. The trucks keep rumbling past all day and night, shaking the windows a little bit. In the workshop, the sound of metal hitting metal is what you hear most. We deal with various parts and pieces, moving them from one pile to another and getting them ready for whatever the customer needs. It’s heavy work and the guys are usually covered in some kind of grease or grit by lunch. We have a small office area, but most of the real stuff happens on the floor. The sun hits the metal roof in the afternoon and it gets pretty warm in there, so we usually take a long break when it’s hottest. We’ve been at this spot for some time now and it suits us. There’s nothing fancy about the building or how we do things. We just take the orders, handle the metal, and try to keep things organized so we don't lose any tools. It’s a lot of physical labor and the air smells like iron and sweat, but that’s what a metal business is like. We don’t have a big front desk or anyone in a suit waiting to meet you, just us in our work clothes trying to get the orders loaded before the day ends.
