Radhika Steel (India)

Radhika Steel is tucked away on Road H-1 in the Metoda GIDC area. We are right by Gate Number 1, which everyone calls Kranti Gate. It’s a pretty busy corner of the industrial estate. The yard gets really hot in the summer, especially with all the metal sitting around under the sun. We have been at G-2524 for quite some time now. Most of our day is spent moving heavy stuff from one side to the other. It's noisy and there's usually a truck idling out front waiting to load up. The guys have their own way of doing things, mostly because we’ve been working together here for so long. We don't really do the fancy office thing. There is a small space for paperwork, but mostly we are outside or in the shed. It's dusty work dealing with steel all day. Sometimes the rain makes it a bit messy in the yard, but we manage to keep things organized. You can hear the cranes from down the street. We keep a lot of stock piled up, so it can feel a bit crowded. It’s just how a steel place looks. Neighbors know us for being there early in the morning before the traffic starts. We take our tea together at the small stall just down the road. It’s a simple setup. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. Just the crew here making sure the steel gets where it needs to go. It is what it is.
