Manas Steel

Our shop is at number 9 in the Wardham Estate which is right near the Kothariya Solvent plant. It is an industrial patch of land where there is always something being built or some heavy machinery being moved around. We handle a lot of steel here so the place is full of heavy racks and piles of metal bars. The floor is made of concrete and always has a bit of a gray look from all the metal dust. Usually the trucks start arriving early in the morning and we have to get out there to help with the unloading. It is hard work especially when the sun is beating down on the estate and there is no breeze. We have a small area where we keep the ledger books and take phone calls but most of our time is spent out on the shop floor. The solvent plant nearby has a very specific smell that you just get used to after working here for a few weeks. We do not have any fancy decorations or a place for people to sit, it is just a working yard where steel gets moved. My hands are usually pretty rough from handling the cold metal all day long. We try to keep things in some kind of order so we can find the right sizes but it is a constant battle. The estate gets quiet once the sun goes down and we lock the gates for the night.
