The floor is usually covered in metal shavings, so we have to wear heavy boots. It’s a dusty environment but that is just how steel work goes. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just the big open shutters to let the air in. Sometimes the heat from the welding gets a bit much, especially in the summer months. Most of the guys here have been working with metal for years. We aren't trying to be some giant corporation, just a reliable workshop where people can get their steel orders sorted without a fuss. We spend a lot of time measuring and cutting things to size. It’s honest work. The neighbors are mostly other small workshops, so everyone understands the noise. We keep a pot of water in the corner for anyone who is thirsty. It is a simple setup, nothing more and nothing less. We just spend our days with the metal and getting it out the door.
