Out here in Hirmi, life revolves around the plant. Our spot is F-271 in the HCW Township. It is quite a distance from Raipur city, about a couple of hours if the roads are clear. Being part of the Ultratech Cement Ltd setup here means living and working in the same general area. The township is where most of us stay. It is a quiet place once you get inside the gates, away from the heavy machinery noise. We handle a lot of the administrative side of things from this unit. It is a simple house converted into a workspace really. You can see the smoke from the chimneys in the distance during the day. We have been at this address for quite some time now. Dealing with the heat in Chhattisgarh is just part of the job. Most of the people living around us are also colleagues, so work talk never really stops, even when we are grabbing tea. It is not like a corporate office in a big city skyscraper. It is more of a community. We keep track of the cement bags leaving the site and the workers coming in for their shifts. The walls are a bit plain, and the desks are cluttered with files and old registers. It is just how we do things here. We stay focused on the tasks at hand and make sure the township operations run smoothly every single day.
