Hotel Grand International

Hotel Grand International is right here in Raipur. It’s a building that most locals are familiar with because we’ve been around for a good while. We spend a lot of time making sure the floors are swept and the linens are sorted out for the rooms. It’s a lot of physical work, honestly. The front desk stays busy with people coming in from the airport or the station, often looking tired and just wanting to sit down for a minute. We have a few staff members who have been here for years and they know the regulars by name. Raipur gets very hot in the summer, so the air conditioning is the most important thing we manage. Sometimes the units act up and we have to call the repair guy from down the street. The kitchen starts early in the morning, around five, to get things ready for breakfast. You can hear the pots clanking if you’re standing in the hallway near the back. It isn't a fancy palace or anything like that, just a place to stay while you’re in town for business or visiting family. We see all sorts of travelers. Some stay for a night, others stay for a whole week. We keep a big logbook of everyone who comes through the door. The street outside can get noisy with the traffic, but inside it’s usually quiet enough to get some sleep. We just focus on keeping the place running properly day after day. There is always laundry to do.
