Visawa Family Restaurant

If you are driving on the Mumbai Pune Old Highway, you might have seen us. We are the Visawa Family Restaurant in Khopoli, right there in the Raigad district. Our place is directly opposite the S T Stand at Shilphata. Because we are so close to the bus stand, we get a lot of travelers who are just passing through. They usually want a quick bite before they jump back on a bus or continue their drive. The highway is always loud with trucks and cars, so it’s never really quiet here. We’ve been at this spot for quite a few years now. It’s a family-run operation. My father started it, and now I’m the one spending most of my time here. We have a couple of staff members who have been with us since the beginning. The interior isn’t anything special, just chairs and tables that have seen a lot of use. We don't use fancy ingredients or anything like that, just what we can get locally. Sometimes we run out of things if the supply truck is late, but that’s just life on the highway. We don't really have a big sign, but people find us anyway. It’s a lot of long hours, especially on weekends when the tourist traffic picks up. We don't mind it much. It’s just how we make our living. We hope the tea is hot and the food is enough to get people where they’re going. Most people seem to appreciate having a place to stop.
