Usha Ascot

Matheran is a bit different because there are no cars allowed, so you either walk or take a horse to get to us on M.G. Road. We’ve been here in the Raigad district for a long time. It’s quiet, which is why people come up the hill in the first place. Usha Ascot is just a regular hotel where you can put your bags down and breathe the mountain air. We have a bit of a yard and the rooms are just rooms. Since we’re on the main road, it’s easy to find us once you get off the toy train or walk from the car park. The red mud gets on everything, especially in the monsoon, but we try to keep the place tidy. We don't have those big city elevators or polished marble floors everywhere. It’s more of a place where you can hear the horses outside and the monkeys in the trees. We’ve seen a lot of families come through over the years, kids growing up and then bringing their own kids back. It’s just how it goes here. There’s no big mystery to it. We provide a place to stay while you explore the points around the hill. It’s peaceful, and we try not to get in the way of that. If you need a towel or some water, just ask one of us.
