Our office is right on Kharsia Road in Raigarh. You probably know the building if you live in town. This is where the HR department and the industrial engineering folks sit. It’s usually pretty quiet inside compared to the actual factory floors, but there is always a lot of paperwork moving around. We handle the hiring and the payroll and all those basic things that keep a big company like Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. moving. Sometimes the phones don't stop ringing and other days it's just the sound of typing. We've got our post box number 16 for all the mail that comes in from different parts of Chhattisgarh. It’s a standard office setup, nothing too special to look at. People come in and out for interviews or to sort out their benefits. The staff here has been around for a long time. We know the local area well. Raigarh has changed a lot since the plant started, and we’ve seen it all from these desks. It's a steady job and we try to do it right. We don't use big words to describe what we do. It’s just human resources and making sure everyone gets their pay on time and the rules are followed. If you walk down the road towards the main town area, you can find some good tea stalls. That's usually where we end up after the shift is over.
