We’re located over in Gulalpur at House Number 95, where Ramnaresh and Kanti live. It’s out in the Bakshi Ka Talab area, just a bit away from the main rush of Lucknow. Bakshi Ka Talab Kisan Producer Company Limited is basically just a group of us from the village who decided we should probably work together instead of everyone doing their own thing. Life out here in Gulalpur is mostly about the seasons and the rain. We spend our mornings in the fields and our evenings talking about how to manage the collective. It’s not a polished business with a marketing team. We’re just neighbors who know each other’s names and families. Some days we're just loading bags onto trucks, and other days we're trying to figure out the government forms, which can be a real headache. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in Uttar Pradesh, just the most useful one for our own people here in the Itaunja area. There is always something needing repair or someone needing a hand with their harvest. It is a slow and steady kind of life. We keep things honest and simple. If you come by the house, you’ll see we are just regular people living a regular life, trying to make sure our kids have a future in farming. It’s hard work, but it’s ours, and that matters more than anything else to us at the end of the day.
