Nabadaya Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group is located in Doghari village, over in the Haldinawapara area. We use a space at Mani Shankar Bhattacharya’s house to get our work done. It’s a pretty simple setup because we spend most of our time out in the fields anyway. The whole idea was to bring the local farmers together so we could have a bit more strength when buying seeds or selling what we grow. It’s tough being a small farmer these days, and we realized that sticking together was the only way to make it work. We talk about what crops are doing well and which ones are struggling. It’s not always easy to agree on things, but we manage to find a way forward. The roads around here can get pretty bad when it rains, which makes moving the harvest a real pain. We don't have any big corporate goals; we just want to make a decent living from our land. Most of us have kids we want to provide for, so we take the work seriously. If you come by the Moyail area, you might see us gathered around talking about the next planting season. We don't use any fancy technology, just the same methods we’ve used for years, maybe with a few new ideas here and there. It’s a lot of long days and tired backs, but it’s our life and we’re used to it. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
