Khetura is a small village where everyone pretty much knows what's happening on the next person's farm. Galsi Sabuj Sathi Farmers Producer was formed right here at Plot No-1643. We are right in the heart of Bardhaman, which is known for its fields. Most of us grew up watching our parents work these same plots of land. We thought it would be a good idea to join up so we could help each other out with seeds and selling the harvest. The Galsi area is busy during certain times of the year, and you’ll see us out there from early morning until the sun goes down. Our office isn't anything special to look at, just a place to keep the books and meet up. We don't use big words or have fancy brochures. We just talk about the soil, the rain, and which crops are looking healthy. Sometimes the market doesn't go our way, and that's when being a group really helps out. It’s about making sure the village stays productive. We have a lot of long conversations about the best time to plant and how to manage the water. It’s practical work. There’s no mystery to what we do. We are just farmers who wanted to have a bit more say in how our produce gets handled. It is a lot of sweat and sometimes a bit of worry, but we like being our own bosses here in West Bengal. That's just how life goes.
