Mavumi Farmers Producer Company Limited is run by a group of us here in Taldanga, Burdhaman. We operate out of Makhan Mondal’s place. Burdhaman is known for its agriculture, and we are just a small part of that big picture. We’ve all been farming for as long as we can remember. The name Mavumi felt right because it connects us to the soil we work on every day. Our daily life is pretty repetitive. We get up early, check the fields, and see what needs doing. Sometimes it's weeding, other times it's watering. We registered this company because we wanted to be more organized with our sales. It’s a lot of work to keep up with the rules and the paperwork, especially when we’d rather be outside. But we know it’s necessary these days. Our spot at 713131 is where we keep our tools and have our meetings. We don't have fancy furniture or air conditioning. It’s just a plain room where we talk about crop prices and fertilizer costs. We’ve had some rough years with the weather, but we just keep going. We aren't looking for fame or big profits. We just want to make sure the farming life stays viable for the people in Taldanga. We rely on each other to get through the harvest season when the work is most intense. It’s just honest, local farming by people who care about their land and their neighbors.
