Yashwant Engineering is our small workshop over at Gat No. 798 in Kudalwadi, Chikhali. The area is filled with many small units like ours, so there’s always the sound of metal being cut or welded. We’ve been here for quite a while now. The shop is basically a garage space packed with lathes and drilling machines. There’s oil on the floor and scraps of metal in the corners, which is just how a real engineering shop looks. We don't have any sales staff or a fancy website. It’s just me and a couple of guys doing the actual work. When someone needs a part made or a machine fixed, they just walk in and talk to us. We usually have a radio playing in the background to keep things lively while we work. The roads in Kudalwadi are quite narrow, so getting large deliveries can be a bit of a problem, but we manage. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just take a look at the drawing, figure out how to make it, and get to work. Sometimes we stay late into the evening to finish an urgent order. We like being in this part of Chikhali because we know all the other shop owners. If we run out of something, we can just borrow it from the guy next door. It’s a simple way of working, but it’s worked for us for years.
