Our workshop is over in Tathawade, at Survey No. 141/2/1. It’s a typical engineering shed with plenty of tools and machines scattered around. We spend our days working with metal, so there is usually the sound of cutting or grinding in the air. It gets pretty loud in here when all the machines are running at once. Most of us have greasy hands by lunchtime, but that's part of the job. We take on all sorts of repair work and small fabrication tasks that come our way. People from around the area bring in things that need fixing or parts that they can't find anywhere else. We have been in this spot for some time now. The floor is covered in metal shavings, and we have to sweep it up constantly so nobody trips. It’s not a fancy corporate office. We just have a small desk tucked in the corner for the bills and notes. Tathawade has grown a lot, but our little corner remains pretty much the same. We focus on the task at hand, whether it’s a simple weld or a more complicated piece of machining. Some days are longer than others, especially when a machine breaks down or a deadline is tight. We don't talk much while we work; we just get on with it. It’s a practical life, and we are fine with that. We just focus on the metal in front of us.
