Yashodai Medical

Yashodai Medical is situated at Shop No 3 in the Shree Gauri Society on Omkareshwar Road. We are right there in Shaniwar Peth, specifically near the Onkareshwar Mandir Chowk. Having a hospital close by means we stay pretty busy with people coming in with prescriptions at all hours. The shop isn't very big, so the walls are covered from floor to ceiling with glass cabinets full of medicines. It takes a long time to learn exactly where everything is kept. I spend most of my day standing behind the counter, reading doctors' handwriting and looking for specific strips of tablets. We have a small fridge in the back for the stuff that needs to stay cold, like insulin. The road outside is always busy because of the temple and the hospital traffic, so there is a lot of dust that we have to wipe off the counters every few hours. It is a serious job because you have to be careful with what you are handing out to people. We don't really have time for much small talk, but we know the regulars who come in for their monthly heart or sugar pills. Sometimes we have to tell people to wait while we call the distributor for something we don't have in stock. It is just a small, local chemist shop trying to keep up with the needs of the Shaniwar Peth residents.
