We are located right on F.C. Road in Pune, which is always buzzing with students and people just hanging out. Our spot is in the Rachana Tulips building. Words And Sips Book Cafe started because we really just wanted a place where people could grab a coffee and actually read something without being rushed out. It is a bit of a mix of a library and a small kitchen. We spend a lot of time dusting shelves and making sure the coffee machine is not acting up again. It is not a perfectly silent library; there is always the sound of the grinder or people chatting in the corner. We do not have some corporate handbook on how to run a cafe. We just kind of figured it out as we went along. Some of the books are ours, some are donated, and the menu is just stuff we like to drink and eat. FC Road is great because there is so much life, but it can be a bit overwhelming sometimes. We have had days where the power goes out or we run out of milk, and we just have to deal with it. It is a lived-in space. The chairs do not all match and the floor has a few scuffs, but that is what makes it feel like home to us. We are just here for the books and the caffeine. It is a simple place for anyone who needs a quiet break.
