Natraj Arts is located out in Wagholi. It’s an area that’s grown a lot lately, but we’re still here doing what we’ve always done. The workshop is usually a bit of a mess with materials scattered around, but that’s just how we work best. We make different things here, mostly stuff that takes a bit of time and handiwork. It’s not a factory where everything is done by machines. We use our hands and basic tools most of the time. The dust from the materials gets everywhere, so we’re always sweeping up at the end of the day. It’s a small group of us, and we’ve all learned the trade over the years. We don’t have a fancy showroom with glass cases. If you come by, you’ll probably see us in the middle of a project, maybe painting something or carving. Wagholi can be a bit dusty and the traffic is getting worse, but it’s where we have our space. We don’t really do much advertising. Most people find us because they saw something we made for someone else. We just try to make things that look decent and last a while. It’s hard work and it can be tiring on the back, but it’s what we know how to do. Sometimes we stay late when a project is nearly finished. It’s just how it goes when you’re working for yourself and want the job done.
