Kolhapuri Restaurant

If you are looking for a meal that actually tastes like home, we’re tucked away in Saheli Apartment, Flat No. 5. It’s inside the Kasturba Society in Vishrantwadi. It might seem a bit strange to have a restaurant in an apartment building, but that’s just how we started. We wanted to bring those real Kolhapuri flavors to this part of town. Our kitchen is small and it gets quite hot in there, especially when we’re grinding the spices for the masalas. We don't have a big fancy dining hall with waiters in uniforms. It’s more like eating at a friend's place. You can smell the garlic and chilies from the hallway before you even get to our door. We focus on the food more than the decorations. Most of our regulars live right here in Vishrantwadi and just stop by after work or order something to take home. We use the recipes we grew up with, the kind that make your eyes water a bit if you aren't used to the heat. It’s a lot of chopping and stirring all day long. Sometimes we run out of certain dishes early because we only make a certain amount fresh each morning. We think that’s better than serving old food. If you find your way into Kasturba Society, just look for Saheli Apartment and follow the smell of the mutton curry and fresh bhakri. We're just a small family run place doing our best.
