Utkarsh Engineering Systems

You can find us over in Shivaji Nagar, right on Gokhale Road near the Symbiosis Atur Centre. It’s a busy spot with students and office workers constantly moving past our door at Preeti Kunj. Utkarsh Engineering Systems is basically a small workshop where we handle a lot of mechanical repairs and system designs. The place is usually filled with the sound of grinding or the hum of a lathe machine. We aren't big on decorations here; our walls are mostly covered in calendars and old blueprints that have been taped up for years. I’ve been running this place with a couple of guys who have been with me since the start. We get our hands dirty every single day. If a pump fails or a gear needs custom cutting, that’s when we’re at our best. We don't have a receptionist, so if the phone rings, one of us just wipes the grease off our hands and picks it up. It can get pretty cramped when we have a big project taking up the floor space, and we often have to step over parts just to get to the back. We aren't interested in being the biggest engineering firm in Pune. We just like fixing things and making sure the machines we work on actually last. It’s honest work, even if it’s loud and messy most of the time. We drink a lot of tea and just keep at it until the job is done for the day.
