If you go down to Somwar Peth, right across from Raste Wada, you’ll find our office. It’s close to the Apollo Theatre, so there is always noise and movement around. We handle a lot of the transport work for this part of town. Trucks come and go at all hours. It isn't the cleanest job, but somebody has to move the boxes and crates. The traffic near the theatre can be a real headache during the matinee shows, but we manage. We’ve been at 447 Somwar Peth for quite some time now. Our desks are usually covered in manifests and delivery notes. Sometimes the phones don't stop ringing and other times it’s quiet enough to hear the street vendors outside. We don’t do anything flashy. It’s just about getting things from one point to another without too much trouble. Most of our drivers have been with us for years. They know the shortcuts around the city better than anyone. We drink a lot of chai while waiting for the morning loads to arrive. It’s a tight space, but it works for what we do. Dealing with logistics means things rarely go exactly as planned, so we spend a lot of time just fixing small delays. It’s just how the transport business goes. You get used to the smell of diesel and the sound of heavy engines idling outside the gate, which is part of the Somwar Peth life.
