United Distributors

Our place, United Distributors, is based in the Vanjari Building over in Shivaji Nagar. It is an older building that has seen a lot of use, which fits the kind of work we do. Distribution is mostly about moving boxes and keeping track of what is coming in and what is going out. It is not a glamorous job, and our office reflects that. We have shelves full of ledgers and stock lists, and there is usually a bit of a mess near the loading area. Shivaji Nagar is always moving, so there is never a quiet moment outside. We deal with various suppliers and local shops around the city. The Vanjari building is easy enough to find if you know the area, but it is just another brick building among many. We don’t use any high-tech sorting machines; it is mostly just us and a few hand carts. The staff here has been around for a bit, so we know the routine by heart. We don’t really do advertisements or big promotions. Most of our work comes from people who have known us for years. It is a very old-school way of running things, focusing on the inventory and making sure the deliveries are ready on time. Sometimes the fans in the office struggle with the heat, but we just keep the doors open and get on with it without complaining.
