Uma

Uma is based out of Sadashiv Peth. If you look at our address, it actually says Sadashiv Peth twice, which is just how it is written down. We are right in that old part of Pune where everything feels a bit more traditional. The streets around here are quite narrow and you have to be careful when you are walking. Our little shop is just a simple room with the basic things we need to get through the day. We don't have a big staff or a fancy front desk. It is usually just one or two of us here. The building is quite old and has that specific smell of old stone and wood. We like it because it stays cool even when the sun is beating down outside. There is always someone passing by on a bicycle or a scooter. It is a very lively neighborhood, but in a quiet, old-fashioned way. We don't do any big promotions or anything like that. Most people who come to see us have been doing so for years. They know exactly where we are in the Peth. It is a small operation and we keep things very basic. We open the shutters in the morning and close them when we are done. There is no big mission, just the daily work. We appreciate being part of this community. It’s a humble spot for Uma to be.
