Uma Optics

If you walk down Wanawadi Productivity Road in Alkapuri, you’ll find Uma Optics at Shop No 14. We are part of the Alkapuri Urmi Society building, right across from Janaseva Bank. It’s a fairly quiet spot compared to some of the main markets, which is nice. Inside the shop, we have various frames lined up on the shelves and the usual testing equipment in the back. Most of our day is spent helping people try on different glasses to see what fits their face. Some people take forever to decide, and others know exactly what they want in five minutes. We also do a lot of repairs, like fixing a bent frame or replacing a tiny screw that fell out. The light comes in through the front window and hits the glass displays, so we are always wiping down fingerprints. Being near the bank means we get people stopping by while they are waiting for their turn over there. It’s a small, honest shop where we just focus on the task at hand. There isn’t any loud music or flashy signs. It’s just us and the glasses. We know most of the people in the society by name since we’ve been here at this location for a good bit of time now. It’s a steady kind of life, just making sure people can see a bit better when they walk out the door.
