Tuljai Engineering Works

At Tuljai Engineering Works, we deal with a lot of metal. Our shop is in Pimpri at A/11. It’s a small space but we make it work. There’s a lathe machine that takes up a good chunk of the floor. Tools are scattered on the wooden bench, mostly wrenches and drill bits. We spend a lot of time measuring things and cutting. The air is usually filled with a bit of smoke or the smell of grinding metal. Pimpri is a loud neighborhood with many workshops like ours. You hear hammering from next door all day. We start early and stay until the work is done. The lights inside A/11 are those long tubes that flicker sometimes. We have a small sink in the back to wash the grease off our hands. It takes a lot of soap to get it all off. People bring in broken parts or sketches on scraps of paper. We just look at what needs doing and get to it. There isn't a waiting room or anything like that. People just stand by the door while we talk. The floor is covered in metal shavings which we sweep into a pile every evening. It’s a gritty job but it keeps us busy. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and the neighbors are alright. Sometimes it gets frustrating when a machine breaks down, but that's just part of the day here.
